Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner so I felt that this was a timely topic to cover. There are few things that can ruin the elegant and regal look of a glass top dining room table like a series of persistent, hairline scratches. Today I’m going to cover a way for homeowners to quickly repair the damage and save some money.

Now first, you have to figure out whether or not the scratches in question are fixable. The scratches may be too deep and if that’s the case it’s a good idea to consider getting the glass top repaired by a professional.

First you’ll need the repairing agent. Something along the lines of a polishing compound or jeweler’s rouge. Believe it or not, you can actually obtain similar results by using extra strength whitening toothpaste. What you want to do is fill in the scratch with the repairing agent and let it set there for a few minutes. This is where the hard work comes in. You’ll have to methodically buff the scratch with a small cloth or a lamp’s wool pad. If you lack the necessary elbow grease you can also opt to use a handheld buffer. You should rinse the scratch(s) periodically to see if your efforts are bearing fruit. If they’re not, you likely have a scratch that needs to be repaired professionally. But before you go that route, there is another option available to you.

At GlassPrimer.com, you can find a reliable place to purchase glass paint which can be used to paint the underneath of a glass table top and hide the scratches. While this method may not work for all glass top dining tables– when applicable it has the advantage of bringing new flair to the home instead of only repairing. And an added advantage of this method is the fact that it will prevent new scratches from being visible in the future.

Here at GlassPrimer.com we want to provide you with resources other than just your Glass Paint needs. So that’s why I wanted to just take a moment and provide some helpful tips on interior painting. Having a room, or an entire house, repainted on the interior is one of the most effective and least expensive ways to really bring new life and style to your home.

Painting the interior of your house is a big job and there are a lot of things to take into consideration. In this short space I just want to quickly go over a few things to keep in mind when selecting your color. You have a lot of different ones to choose from. It is always a good idea to pick a color that complements what is already in your room. If you’re moving into a new place and don’t have any furniture, tile, or other set pieces that are already in place I recommend gathering them first. It is easier to find paint that matches all the items in your room than it is to match all of the items to the paint. You can go about the choosing process in several different ways.

You can go to the paint store and look at their selection of paints for something that fits your decor. Most larger paint stores will allow you to go through this online, but I encourage seeing it in person before you make any final decisions. If you’re more of a free spirit and would like to take color from somewhere else, for example, a piece of artwork or a vase–you can read about an iPhone App that allows you to do just that.

Once you have a paint in mind get samples so you can bring them home and see how they look there. Lighting has a large effect on how we see color so it is a good idea to view the paint at all times of the day. In addition to the paint color that you fall in love with bring several lighter and darker shades along. Because of the difference in light that I mentioned you could wind up with several really different impressions.

The iPhone is a piece of technology that has really revolutionized phones and all handheld devices. But the iPhone is also revolutionizing the way you see color.

There are two relatively new applications available at Apple’s App Store. Both applications have been developed by giants in the painting industry. There is Ben Color Capture by Benjamin Moore and ColorSnap by Sherwin Williams. Both applications work essentially the same way. It enables you to crop one of your photos and then select a patch of color from it. From there it gives you the common name of the color you selected and its color code. But what I feel is the true allure of an application is that it enables you to capture colors on the go. Say you’re walking in a field and you see an exquisite flower and you decide you want the whole inside of your house that color. With these apps you can take a quick photo of said flower and find out its paint code.

If you’re unsure of which application to pick then the numbers are behind ColorSnap by Sherwin Williams. I used both applications and with ColorSnap I had a better idea of what color I was selecting. With their application I could see what colors my finger was selecting due to a small box that is constantly displaying the color above your finger. This is nice with scenes that have a lot of different colors in it. The photo I did my test on was of my backyard and there were leaves changing colors, grass and a pond so this feature was key. ColorSnap also has a three star rating on iTunes opposed to Ben Color Capture’s two and a half stars. Personally, I would go with ColorSnap.

Neither of the apps are perfect of course. Light, naturally, plays a big role in the way the colors are picked up, so you have to be mindful of that. The applications are also not completely accurate so don’t base any large or expensive decisions on them.

There’s also another drawback to these applications and it is that they only provide color codes for their selective companies. This isn’t a problem for our experts at Glass Primer however, because we’re able to match the color codes of all Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams products in our Glass Paint. So take out your iPhones and bring color home with you.

It’s that time of the year again—autumn. This season has a lot of allure for several reasons. For one, its coolness is nice—especially after a hot summer and it isn’t quite freezing cold yet. And depending on where you live there’s also the beautiful foliage to take in. Autumn is a big month for decoration considering it holds both Halloween and Thanksgiving. With these holidays comes the likelihood of guests and relatives visiting many of our homes. A great way to get everyone in the mood for this season is by emulating fall in your interior decoration design. There are a lot of ways to incorporate the feel of the season into your design scheme and I believe one of the most successful ways to go about it is with color.

Few things can create a more stunning and breathtaking effect in your home or kitchen than some beautifully back painted glass. You can find a lot of different uses for back painted glass in the home in general. They can be utilized in everything from refrigerator doors, picture frames, shower screens and coffee tables. More often than not, however, back painted glass is utilized in the kitchen, providing home owners with sleek and unique back splashes and cabinet doors.

Overall, back painted glass is more attractive and easier to maintain than tile. The main problem with tile is the grout lines, which are hard to keep clean and present a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. Back painted glass is hygienic and easy to clean without being fragile. Like most innovative design choices, back painted glass can be very expensive but with Glassprimer’s unique formula most of this expense is cut away. Some designers will charge between $45 to $60 per square foot of back painted glass. With the easy to use, revolutionary Glassprimer paint, you can permanently back paint glass with any color for less than .94¢ per square foot. This helps make back painted glass an affordable and attractive option for more homeowners. If you’re having trouble deciding on a color, you can find hundreds of different stock colors at Glassprimer.com. But we’re also able to match our glass paint with any Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams color swatch codes free of charge. You can take a look at some of the colors they offer here.

Back painting glass is a great DIY venture and one made even easier by the simple and effective application of Glassprimer’s glass paint. For other homeowners that would like to purchase a piece of back painted glass they can visit Backpaintedglass.com, where they can find product and shipping information.
